Compress Image to 100 KB

Bring photos and scanned documents under 100 KB. For paperwork, the black-and-white option keeps text crisp at a small size.

KB
More options: pixel size, DPI, how KB is counted

Leave width and height empty to let the tool choose. Fill in one of them to keep the proportions; fill in both for an exact size.

100 KB for documents: what matters

A photographed or scanned page is mostly flat paper with thin dark lines of text. That’s good news for compression, as long as the bytes aren’t wasted on the wrong things:

  • Colour you don’t need. A text page in grayscale spends nothing on tinted paper or coloured shadows. Use the black-and-white option unless the document has colour that matters (a stamp or photo, say).
  • Background around the page. A desk, a hand or the scanner lid all cost bytes. Crop to the page edges before you start, or enter the exact pixel size and let the tool crop to it.
  • Uneven lighting. Shadows across a phone photo of a page are detail the compressor has to keep. Photograph flat, in even light.

How much resolution does 100 KB allow?

At 100,000 bytes (800,000 bits), here is how many bits each pixel can have at a few common page sizes:

Bits per pixel available at 100,000 bytes
Pixel sizePixelsBits per pixel at 100,000 bytes
827 × 1169966,7630.83
1240 × 17542,174,9600.37
1654 × 23393,868,7060.21
2480 × 35088,699,8400.09

The rows are A4 pages (210 × 297 mm) at 100, 150, 200 and 300 pixels per inch. More pixels per inch means sharper small print but fewer bits for each pixel. The tool picks a size automatically; if your form specifies dimensions, type them in. Check the preview at full size before downloading, and if small text looks smudged, crop tighter or switch on black and white.

Photos at 100 KB

A photo of several megabytes has its pixel dimensions reduced before the quality is lowered much, so it stays clean rather than blocky. The before and after previews show what you’re getting. If you need a smaller limit, try 50 KB; for more room, 200 KB.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress an image to 100 KB?

Choose your image above; the limit is already set to 100 KB. The tool picks the best JPG quality that fits and, for very large images, a smaller pixel size. Check the preview, then download.

How can I get a scanned document under 100 KB and keep the text readable?

Tick 'Black & white' before adding the scan. Colour information costs bytes, and a text document rarely needs it, so the budget goes into sharp edges instead. Crop away the scanner bed or table around the page first if you can.

Can I compress several documents to 100 KB at once?

Yes. Select or drop up to 30 images together. Each is compressed separately to the same limit, and you can download them as a ZIP.

Can I turn a PDF into a 100 KB image here?

No, this tool works with image files (JPG, PNG, WebP). Save or export the PDF page as an image first, then compress it here.

Why is my photo only 60 KB when I asked for 100 KB?

Your picture already fits at high quality, so the tool doesn't make it bigger for no benefit. 100 KB is a maximum. If your form also needs a minimum size, type it in the minimum box.
